Kakumei Valvrave is a brilliant anime about revolution. Middle school students make their own country, which looks very unrealistic but is somehow interesting. In a futuristic atmosphere, the main plot is about the war itself. The tactics, determination, and feelings of the main character and supporters were explored, from L Elf, a one-man army to Haruto, a terrified middle school student who turned into a monster. Dramatic moments make the protagonist learn more about themselves and what they stand for. As expected from the writer of Code Geass, this mecha anime is not just about a tiring battle of minds, brilliant tactics, and sick hearts, this anime focuses on the definition of monsters that are very controversial. Is this not a human or someone who is too brutal to be human? The second question focuses on change and peace. What does it take to achieve peace?

Through two seasons of Kakumei Valvrave, this animation is perfect, the design of the character is perfect. The opening and closing songs are brilliant and the soundtrack is just right. The cast of the voice actor is very good, with special mention to L Elf seiyuu.

I really recommend this anime. 10 out of 10.

There is a lot of talk about destiny today. Fate seems to be something predetermined and carried by destiny. It is said that whatever happens to someone or something is predetermined and that we cannot escape fate. Take Valvrave the Liberator for example. Is that the fate that caused Haruto Tokishima to become a Valvrave pilot? Is it fate that makes L-Elf betray his former team-mate and is branded an enemy of Dorissa? Does destiny bind both of them to create a new world with their own ideology? Maybe but fate is not what controls our destiny. We make each decision ourselves. In fact, every action has consequences.

Valvrave the Liberator returned to the second round after the cliffhanger ended being abandoned since his first season. This series is the original mecha series produced by Sunrise which is famous for their similar works. For performances that take place in a futuristic atmosphere, it is not surprising that Valvrave the Liberator has more advanced technology than us. It set the setting in which the war took on an unprecedented form by introducing Valvraves - a powerful sophisticated war with mysterious origins. Haruto was only a middle school student but his life changed forever after he became one of his pilots.

The second half of the show was taken immediately after the first cliffhanger of the first season left, so I hope you get used to what is happening. The series focuses on the war between Dorissa and JIOR, the neutral country. Season 1 Valvrave the Liberator builds itself based on Mecha's performance with a large number of silly events, surprising actions, and psychological integrity. Season 2 doesn't stray far from that. In fact, the second season is getting more intense with various stages. These stages accumulate which eventually manipulates the story to complete this series with questions that trigger answers. Some of these questions will put viewers in "oh, makes sense now" while others can produce different turbulence responses. This is especially true for his conclusions which will leave the audience with a cloud of questions.

However, unlike season 1, there is a morality that is driven towards the character. The main themes of humanity and identity are very important to explore in this second season. This is evidenced by the famous term 'monster', said the controversy mentioned by various characters. What exactly is meant by a monster? Is someone who is only defined as non-human or someone who has animal brutality? We find out in this season how and what breeds monsters. Viewers will be surprised to see how they are judged by the characters from this series. As in this case, conflicting ideologies and egos triggered by power become a struggle for dominance between the two parties.

All characters return in the sequel; both survive. Keep in mind that Valvrave the Liberator is not ashamed to avoid scenes of brutal or violent death. But for now, most characters as we know them again with their various roles. Haruto was no longer a student at the school who was buried in his textbook but became a pioneer along with his allies which were impossible for L-Elf to start a revolution against Dorssia. Their goal: to build a new country with their own ideology that seems to clash with established countries. L-Elf plays the role of an anti-hero with his cunning mind and to realize his own plans. He is a man of integrity determined by his intelligence and skills. Although at first, we see the man as someone whose heart is as cold as ice, there is also more than meets the eye after we see a little of his past. His love of character suddenly motivated him to fight what he believed in. Although Haruto and L-Elf don't get along well as good friends, the duo can form an extraordinary team when needed. But most of the time, they are like oil and water, like red and blue, like yin and yang.

Other characters also make prominent highlights in both series including sudden supporting characters. He holds the dark secrets revealed after the traumatic event. Of course, we cannot forget important female characters such as Shouko, Saki, and Akira. None of them are the same but each plays an important role in determining the outcome of the war. Unlike season 1, Shouko is now the political leader of New JIOR. Even though he holds very important responsibilities, Shouko still shows emotions especially when she discovers a destructive secret that changes her view of others forever. On the other hand, Saki has more roles as soldiers and pilots. Just like the first season, he is still an idol and remains popular but not always for the right reasons. For example, he also hides a secret that most people don't realize. It was not until certain events that triggered what we call 'parodies of justice'. However, the theme of identity plays a more important role here as we watch the stages progress.

It should also not be surprising to realize that violence and murder occurred in this show with extraordinary brutality. Blood spilled and action erupted on the faces of the audience as the two sides clashed. For sudden characters, the death flag is raised and placed high in the sky until the point reaches its target. Characters suddenly on both sides make prominent highlights in battle as they try to make a difference. One particular character stands out named Liselelotte who is known as L-Elf's childhood friend. She is also the daughter of Dorssia with her own secrets. It is interesting to see its history with L Elf and the circumstances with it. In fact, this situation is escalating in climate episodes that will change the lives of L-Elves forever. But if we talk about the Dorssia Military Pact Federation, that's a different story. They write chapters in people's lives in the wrong way by their actions that speak louder than words. Characters such as A-Drei, Q-Vier, and Cain totalitarian leaders all make known their actions that not only change the lives of others but also influence others in different ways. In essence, they are devices that are ready to move to do the worst. However, not all members of the Federation are demons as you will see later with their own ideology.

While the first season explores some of the histories of the main characters, L-Elf may not have the depth of character. In this second season, we know him better through flashbacks. This is not a good memory, but L Elf still kept it very well in his heart, in such a way that one sudden event in the present caused him to be catatonic at one point.

Despite the fact that this show explores the dynamics of our main characters, not many of them are marked by development. Their minds are still fixed on their goals. This series does not function well to develop its character considering most of the time, the main plot focuses on the war itself. Although some characters are able to make dramatic entrances and exits, none of them really stand out. They are motivated by what they believe are fighting for it. It does not enter deeply with their reasons or goals on many occasions. More than that, there are also some red herrings that can be difficult to categorize for stories. Disclosure of some characters may be surprising but does not make sense. Some of them also never get what they want which might make the audience sympathize with them (for the wrong reasons) but realize time cannot return to cancel the event. Unlike season 1, season two doesn't have comedy and fan services. This completely eliminates Asinine episodes involving middle school music or the absurdity of the implied rape scene. However, the nature of vampires still exists and certain views still oppose logic. This season may also feel rushed with the storyline on various occasions or sometimes feels a bit slow. Absurd must be used as a frequent word for Valvrave the Liberator too. This program is not rational at many stages with an increasingly open level. It's hard to take this series seriously even with all the terrible performances. Some of them may feel tragic, dramatic, or even be able to tear some tears. Artwork generally remains the same as season 1. Sunrise is involved in production with its character designs. Valvraves, in general, remain the same as before with exceptional and extraordinary designs that give them a reputation. On the other hand, new JITOR enemies have also evolved with their new weaponry lines. Their new war weapons provide unique depth even though they do not have the Valvraves style. The background design stands like them from before while there are no characters that experience significant physical changes. But mentally, that's another story ...

The soundtrack of this series can be tolerated although sometimes it seems strong with background music / OST. This is usually determined by more emotional scenes and character tones. In particular, L Elf showed more emotion this season than ever before. Ryōhei Kimura (Magi: Judal, Silver Spoon: Yugo, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai: Kodaka) is known for playing various characters with different properties. L Elf is a man who counts but his voice becomes more depressed in this sequel similar to some other pilots. Not much can be commented on in most of the character's tones because many voices are feared after learning some surprising revelations. There are still some voices that also define trust and hope and I give praise in their tone in a dark world. Valvrave happened. Nana Mizuki x TMRevolution returned to their role to perform the main theme and I commend their performance. because.

Overall, sequels don't always come out with the right tricks from their hats. Sometimes, something goes wrong and makes it a mess that is hard to redeem itself. Valvrave the Liberator is one of the series which has a problem that confuses its best logic. There are moments that shine with character and twists, but most are covered by impossibilities. Not everything might make sense at the end too and will raise a lot of questions for viewers. At other times, the performance did not make sense with revelations and deaths triggered by a flag that had previously been blown off. The action is still there, so prepare yourself for mecha madness, ego clashes, and ideological royal battles. Oh and I almost forgot ... absurdity.
